At YourSix, we’re transforming physical security through cloud-native technology, making it smarter, more accessible, and more reliable than ever. As an Android Developer, you will play a critical role in shaping the mobile experience of our flagship YourSixOS platform by bringing powerful security tools like surveillance, access control, and AI-driven features directly into the hands of our users.

This is more than just building apps. It is about designing secure, intuitive, and high-performing mobile solutions that help industries like agriculture, automotive, banking, and beyond protect what matters most. Your day to day:

  • Design, develop, and maintain high-quality Android applications for the YourSixOS platform, enabling users to access surveillance feeds, manage access controls, and interact with AI-driven security features on mobile devices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including backend engineers, UX/UI designers, and product managers, to integrate mobile apps with cloud-based services and APIs.
  • Optimize app performance, ensuring seamless video streaming, real-time notifications, and secure data handling in compliance with industry standards.
  • Troubleshoot and debug issues, conduct code reviews, and implement best practices for mobile development.
  • Stay updated on Android ecosystem trends, incorporating new features from Android SDK, Kotlin, and related libraries to enhance app functionality.
  • Participate in agile development processes, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Support deployment to Google Play Store and handle app updates, user feedback, and analytics integration.

What you bring to the team:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of professional experience in Android app development using Kotlin and/or Java.
  • Strong understanding of Android architecture components (e.g., ViewModel, LiveData, Room), RESTful APIs, and mobile security best practices.
  • Experience with version control systems like Git and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while meeting deadlines.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with physical security technologies, such as video surveillance systems, IoT integrations, or cloud-based SaaS platforms.
  • Experience with multimedia handling, including video compression, streaming protocols (e.g., RTSP, HLS), and real-time data processing.
  • Knowledge of networking concepts and integration with backend services (e.g., AWS, Firebase).
  • Proficiency in testing frameworks (e.g., Espresso, JUnit) and agile methodologies.
  • Previous work on apps involving user authentication, push notifications, or location-based services.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for creating intuitive, user-friendly mobile experiences.
