Notifications
Overview
YourSixOS security notifications provide real-time alerts across your cloud physical security system, helping organizations stay informed of important video surveillance, access control, sensor, and connected device activity. Security notifications are automatically triggered by events from cameras, video analytics, access control systems, environmental sensors, peripherals, and other connected security devices and can be delivered to YourSixOS users through email or mobile push notifications, organizational email addresses, webhooks, or integrated central monitoring stations. By bringing security alerts and event notifications into a unified cloud physical security platform, YourSixOS helps teams monitor activity and quickly respond to events across their organization.
Notification Recipients
Notifications can be sent to several types of recipients depending on the use case:
-
- Users: Individual YourSixOS users can receive notifications directly. Notifications can be delivered by email or mobile push notification based on the user’s individual notification preference. Details below.
- Organizational Emails: Notifications can be sent to an email address configured at the organization level. This allows notifications to be delivered to shared or group email addresses without requiring the recipient to be an individual YourSixOS user.
- Webhooks: Webhooks allow event information from YourSixOS to be sent to an external application or service. This can be used to integrate YourSixOS notifications and events into third-party systems or automated workflows.
- Central Stations: Notifications can be routed to an integrated central monitoring station for alarm monitoring, verification, and response workflows.
Notifications Originate from Events
Notifications in YourSixOS originate from events. An event is an occurrence detected or generated within YourSixOS that can be used to trigger an action. Events can originate from cameras, analytics, access control, sensors, peripherals, and other connected systems. Examples could include a person or vehicle being detected, an access control event occurring, a sensor reaching a specified condition, or another configured device event.
YourSixOS supports a catalog of available events that can be used when configuring notifications.

Health Notifications
YourSixOS health notifications help teams stay informed about the health and availability of their physical security system. General health notifications can alert users to issues such as a device disconnecting or a storage disruption. Proactive Health Notifications provide deeper monitoring for conditions such as high CPU or RAM utilization, network packet loss, storage capacity, and video image quality, helping teams identify potential issues before they impact system performance. Email vs. Mobile Push Notifications
When a YourSixOS user is selected as a notification recipient, that user can choose how they would like to receive notifications:
-
- Mobile push notification
Notification preference is configured individually by each user.
To select your notification preference, open the menu in the upper-right corner of YourSixOS and select your notification preference located under “My account”.
Because this is a user-level preference, administrators do not select email versus mobile push on behalf of all notification recipients. Each user must configure their own preferred notification method.
